Notes on Representation:

The characters in my music video are all represented in a relatively stereotypical way to some extent, as Beth playes the vulnerable female who is emotional and acts as a victimised charcacter, even though it is her boyfriend who has passed away. The focus is on how she is feeling and I portray that through numerous closeups and making sure her facial expressions and body language match her emotions at the time. Beth isn't however stereotypical in the way that females are represented in Pop or R'n'B music videos, she is seen as a weaker character. However, the moment where she takes out her aggression when it is more fast paced and she is running through the forest shows the male trait of not being passive, so there is a small element of role reversal here.

Natalie also follows the usual conventions of that type of character, as it is usually females who act as in the comforting friend role.

Though Beth's late boyfriend isn't introduced as a character at any point in the music video, we do may see her look at a photograph of him, and he would be a stereotype in that way that he will be in military uniform, which is thought of as a male role. It is rare to see female's associated with the army in media productions.
