Editing:

To begin the process of editing the footage that I have already shot, I used Final Cut Pro X on a Mac laptop. I have used this editing software before when creating a practise music video last year and sitcoms with my fellow class mates.

The more I edit the more I learn how to do things such as cropping the frame and dipping the sound at certain points of the song that I added in.

Whilst editing and putting my storyboard into real life, I realised that some things may work better. For instance I filmed some extra scenes of a mid close up of Beth crying, with mascara running down her face. To make this as effective as possible I used an artificial light source. I did state on my mise-en-scene mood board that I did not plan on using any artificial lighting and stick to natural light sources as it fits the codes and conventions of the indie genre and the mood that I am trying to portray. However, once I had experimented with it and tried out different methods of using the light, I thought it would be effective to put flashes of Beth crying that differs from the lighting and colours of the other shots. This will hopefully give my music video more variety and add to the quality of it. I also filmed a minute pass between 7:59 and 8:00 to add in at the very beginning of the music video in order to create a wider range of shots and indicate the timing that it is set in. I set an alarm to remind me to do it in the evening, as the clock is not 24 hour. After setting the camera up and waiting for the minute to pass, I realised that it said PM at the bottom. Therefore I had to zoom in to hide this, but in the end I captured the shot effectively and have added it into what I have edited so far.

Progress in Filming:

Over the Christmas holidays I have made significant progress filming my music video for My Blood. It was easy to access my actress as I live very near to her so I was able to film whenever I wanted. I only needed three days of filming to shoot the films that I wanted so far, but still have 2 scenes left. I shot the car scene, the entrance to the forest and the forest scene. There were no difficulties with lighting or weather and everything went to plan.

Tomorrow I plan to film the remainder of my video, then I can focus entirely on editing and producing a rough cut of the video.

Shooting Schedule:

Below are images of my shooting schedule that I used over the Christmas holidays and on weekends.

Email asking for permission:

I sent an email to Universal Music and adressed it to Polydor Records where Ellie Goulding is currently signed. I have not yet recieved a reply but below is a shot of the email.

Risk Assesment:

Here is my risk assessment sheet of the possible risks of filming, the accidents that may occur and the severity and probability of this happening. There are no obvious related risks that are related to my particular story line, but there are everyday accidents that may occur.

There are no seriously dangerous risks, only the risk of slipping over on ice if it is frosty when I film. However I will make sure that when Beth is running there is no chance of her slipping over and I will avoid icy ground.

Below is my explanation of how I'm going to prevent these problems from happening.
